No. It is not part of local custom, but in tourist areas and for good service at spas, tours and upscale restaurants a tip is appreciated.
Should I tip if there is a service charge?
Mid-range and upscale restaurants often add a 5% service charge plus VAT. If it's on the bill, an extra tip is optional.
Can I tip in US dollars?
Dong is better — small US bills are hard for staff to exchange. Keep a stack of 10,000 – 50,000 ₫ notes for tips.
