Is it better to take the bus or the train in Vietnam?
Buses are cheaper and go everywhere; trains are more comfortable on long or scenic stretches (Hanoi – Lao Cai for Sapa, Da Nang – Hue along the coast, Hanoi – Ninh Binh). Limousine vans are the comfortable middle ground on 2 – 6 hour routes.
What is a limousine bus in Vietnam?
A 9 – 11 seat van with reclining leather seats, often with hotel pickup. It costs more than a standard bus but is faster and far more comfortable.
Where should I book?
Booking sites let you compare operators and pay by card; buying at the bus company counter is usually a little cheaper. Book 1 – 3 days ahead normally and several weeks ahead around Tết.
